Clinical and Neuropsychologist /  Kliniese en Neurosielkundige

Colleen holds a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and a Masters degree in Research Psychology, both of which were obtained cum laude from Potchefstroom University (2004, 2005). Colleen holds a dual registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Psychologist and a Neuropsychologist. She completed an internship at Witrand Psychiatric Hospital and the Institute for Psychotherapy at Potchefstroom University in 2005. Since then Colleen has been employed at Addington Hospital (affiliated to the University of KwaZulu Natal), where from 2009 she headed up the Psychology Unit. In addition to providing psychotherapy and psychometric assessment services to the general public, she also lectured Applied Psychology to medical students at Nelson Mandela Medical School, and trained and supervised clinical psychology interns and trauma counsellors. 
 
Colleen has nearly 20 years experience as a Psychologist.  In addition to her private practice she has provided Neuropsychology services to Groote Schuur Hospital and Cape Town Neuropsychology at Vincent Pallotti Hospital.  She has also lectured Neuropsychology to Clinical Psychology masters students at University of Cape Town as well as trained and supervised clinical and neuropsychology interns.
 
Colleen draws eclectically from a range of therapeutic modalities in order to suit the  unique needs of each individual. Colleen has completed level 1 BWRT training through the BWRT Institute. She has also completed comprehensive DBT training. Among others, these skills are incorporated in her practice. Through psychotherapy, she facilitates skills’ growth and personal awareness in adults, to manage and fulfil challenges more effectively in their work, marriage and family environments.   
 
Colleen also has considerable experience in psychological assessment including neuropsychological, medico-legal, educational and career guidance services to adults, adolescents and children. Colleen believes that through psychological assessment individuals and parents are enabled to make informed decisions in directing future lifechoices.

SHARON PIENAAR

Educational Psychologist and Registered Counsellor / Opvoedkundige Sielkundige en Geregistreerde Berader

Sharon Pienaar an educational psychologist and registered counsellor dedicated to supporting 
children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Sharon’s approach is rooted in creating a safe and 
nurturing environment where clients can freely explore their thoughts and emotions while developing 
essential skills to reach their unique potential.
 
Sharon‘s journey in the field of psychology began with a Bachelor of Psychology (BPsych) degree. 
Driven by a passion for working with children and adolescents she pursued a post-graduate certificate 
in education (PGCE) and later earned a master’s degree in educational psychology (MEdPsych) from 
Stellenbosch University.
 
With a decade of experience in various settings, including a non-profit organisation, a mainstream 
school, a special needsschools, an international school, and private practice, Sharon brings a wealth of knowledge and practical expertise to her work. Services offered include play therapy, individual 
and group therapy, psychoeducational assessments, subject-choice assessments, career guidance, study skills, and organisational skills. Each service is tailored to meet the specific needs of clients, 
ensuring they receive the most effective support possible.
 
Moreover, in 2023, Sharon co-authored and published an article in the Journal of Education titled “Including Learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder: Voices of Mainstream Teachers.” This work reflects a commitment to inclusive education and dedication to enhancing the learning experiences of all students. Sharon‘s goal is to empower clients to navigate life’s challenges and achieve their full potential. ASTRID PIET

Counselling Psychologist / Voorligting Sielkundige

Astrid earned her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Pretoria in 2020.  She then completed her internship with the South African National Defence Force where she provided counselling services to soldiers and their dependents as well as provided employee wellness support.  Prior to her qualification as a Counselling Psychologist, Astrid earned her qualification as a Registered Counsellor and has provided counselling services within schooling, behavioural rehabilitation, substance rehabilitation and life skills arenas.

Astrid is a compassionate counselling psychologist dedicated to helping individuals thrive and cultivate meaningful connections and experiences. With over 10 years experience in clinical practice, she aims to provide therapeutic treatment that is unique to the needs of each client. Her approach blends a collaboration with clients to empower them to overcome personal difficulties. She hopes to enhance the quality of life of individuals through providing mental health care that is culturally sensitive and holistic in nature. Her areas of interest are depression, anxiety, trauma, couples therapy, work-related distress, and neurodiversity support.

INGRID LAMPRECHT

Educational Psychologist / Opvoedkundige Sielkundige

With two decades of experience as an educational psychologist, Ingrid has specialised in consulting within both private practice and school settings. As a practitioner, she is detail orientated and therefore enjoys the analytical and diagnostic component of assessments. In her therapeutic work she finds inspiration in the resilience children demonstrate, time and time again. 

Ingrid studied at RAU (University of Johannesburg), where she completed a BA. Ed in 1998, followed by a B. Ed Educational Psychology (Honours) in 1999. She completed her internship at the RAU Institute for Child and Adult Guidance and obtained her Masters Degree in Educational Psychology in 2003. Her additional training includes Fundamental and Intermediate Intensive Training in Ericksonian Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, as well as Fundamental Intensive Training in Eye Movement Integration Therapy with the Milton H. Erickson Institute of South Africa (MEISA). She actively participates in professional development and has keenly attended conferences and courses presented by the Solution Focused Institute of South Africa. 

Maintaining concurrent consulting roles in schools and private practice has enabled her to work with diverse age groups, attending to the emotional and/or unique learning needs of preschoolers, primary and high school students, as well as university students. Her expertise includes managing multi-disciplinary teams, a role she has fulfilled in private, public and international schools. While she offers a range of educational psychological services, she specialises in psychotherapy, play therapy, and psycho-educational assessments.

More recently, Ingrid has also worked as a learning support consultant, providing targeted assistance in English Language and Literacy Development, as well as Mathematics for learners from Grade 1 to Grade 7, in line with the CAPS curriculum. 

NAZNEEN FIRFIREY

Clinical Psychologist / Kliniese Sielkundige

Nazneen Firfirey is a Clinical Psychologist who graduated with her Masters Degree in  Clinical Psychology from Stellenbosch University in 2009. She has spent the last 13 years working as a Military Psychologist for the South African National Defence Force.  
 
She is passionate about assisting individuals return to their optimal level of functioning and create positive change in their lives. Nazneen is completing her third-year studies in Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy, which focuses on emotional intimacy and vulnerability and which has its foundation in attachment-based theory. Nazneen’s special  interests are working with depression, anxiety, personality, couples therapy and sexual health, including gender-affirming healthcare.  
Emily van der Westhuizen

EMILY VAN DER WESTHUIZEN

Registered Psychometrist / Psigometris

Emily van der Westhuizen holds a BA Honours Degree in Psychology and is a Registered Psychometrist in the category Independent Practice with the Health Professions Counsel of South Africa (Practice Number PMT 0090476). Emily completed her undergraduate bachelor’s degree at Stellenbosch University, her postgraduate honours degree in psychology from the University of South Africa and completed her BPsych Equivalent psychometry training through Stellenbosch University. She completed her internship at a busy private practice in Claremont, Cape Town, where she gained exposure to educational, clinical, neuropsychological and medico-legal assessment whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team. She has over three years of experience in assessment working with children, adolescents and adults.

In addition to her formal psychology training, Emily also has experience and training in Crisis Counselling, Play Therapy, the AIMS method of working with autistic children, and the Phono-Graphix reading therapy programme. She is also involved in tertiary level tutoring in the area of psychology. In her capacity at the practice, she works alongside Colleen on cases involving psychometric assessment with children, adolescents and adults.
